A report submitted to the UN Security Council’s North Korea sanctions committee said that “some countries” believe that North Korea is advancing its nuclear weapons program and may have developed a nuclear device capable of carrying missiles. The report did not indicate which countries it was referring to.
according to Singapore’s Lianhe Zaobao on August 4, China aid Reuters reported that an independent expert group responsible for monitoring United Nations sanctions said in the report that some countries believe that North Korea “may have developed a small nuclear device that can be carried on its ballistic missile warhead”. The report was submitted on August 3.
the above-mentioned Expert Group believes that the past six nuclear tests conducted by North Korea should help it develop miniaturized nuclear devices. Pyongyang has not conducted any nuclear tests since September 2017.
