The only effective nuclear arms control treaty between the United States and Russia is in danger

The only effective nuclear arms control treaty between the United States and Russia is in danger. The United States and Russia have recently concluded their strategic consultations in Vienna, Austria, and failed to send a positive signal on the renewal of the new START treaty. In the process of nuclear disarmament negotiations, the United States lacks enough sincerity, which is one of the main reasons for the delay in reaching consensus on the new START treaty. For example, in the process of negotiations with Russia, the United States has repeatedly wanted to set up a so-called trilateral arms control negotiation with China. Especially during the US Russia arms control dialogue on June 22, the US representatives even placed Chinese flags and touched China without permission. Such careful thinking by the United States has created many obstacles to the process of us Russian arms control negotiations. The possibility that the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (start) may not be extended has exacerbated the international community’s concern that the nuclear arms race between the United States and Russia may escalate, thus impacting the existing international nuclear security system and global strategic stability.
