Beijing, August 4 (Xinhua) (Chen Jiajia, Guo Chaokai) – China’s first high altitude large UAV typhoon comprehensive observation test has recently achieved a complete success under the organization and guidance of China Meteorological Administration. The reporter learned from China Aerospace Science and Industry Group on the 4th that the group’s radiosonde system participated in the comprehensive observation of typhoon by large UAV at high altitude.
on the afternoon of August 2, a high-altitude UAV took off from Boao airport in Hainan, bringing the airborne drop down sounding system developed by 23 Aerospace new weather companies of the second Academy of China Aerospace Science and industry group to the designated altitude of the target airspace. More than 30 drop down Beidou radiosondes were launched at a height of 10000 meters to conduct CT type “scanning” of the cloud system around typhoon senlak this year 。
a group of observation data of temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind direction, wind speed, etc. of the cloud system surrounding typhoon senlak are transmitted to the ground command system in real time. In more than two hours, the equipment is in good condition and the data upload is stable.
the use of high-tech equipment to complete the accurate acquisition of real-time data of this year’s typhoon senlak’s peripheral cloud system means that China’s first high-altitude large-scale unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ocean and typhoon comprehensive observation test has achieved a complete success, filling the blank of China’s comprehensive ocean observation based on high-altitude large-scale UAV.
although the level of Typhoon Forecast in China has been steadily improved in recent years, the lack of sea observation data limits the improvement of typhoon generation and development mechanism research and forecast technology. The airborne sounding system is helpful to obtain more sea observation data and improve typhoon forecast.
the 23rd Institute of the second Academy of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation said that compared with the spherical sounding class, the airborne drop down sounding system is more directional and targeted; compared with the rocket sounding class, it has a wider application range, larger area and stronger mobility. Airborne sounding system can play an active role in meteorological emergency, disaster monitoring, ecological monitoring, weather modification and other fields.
